Protestors strip...in Pamplona...
..don horns against Spain's running of the bulls: "PAMPLONA, Spain (AFP) - Hundreds of animal rights activists took part in a "Running of the Nudes" Thursday to protest the traditional running of the bulls ceremony in the Spanish town of Pamplona. The demonstrators ran stripped to their underwear and sporting plastic horns, as well as the traditional red bandana worn by those who take part in the famous Spanish event. The running of the bulls involves the release of bulls every morning into the streets of the city in northeast Spain.
Daredevil revellers, including many foreigners, run ahead of the stampeding bulls as they are herded down the narrow streets towards the city's bull ring.Runners are sometimes caught and either gored or trampled by the running bulls and 14 people have been killed in the event since 1911. The bulls that run in the morning are used in bullfights the same evening.
Thursday's protest was organised by the animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), which said people from more than 30 countries took part.Thousands of tourists are expected to attend the week-long festival of the bulls, which starts on Friday. The running of the bulls was immortalised in Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises".

Smelly Feet?In Germany! :))
This odd news let me wondering if Germans wash their feet or have a daily shower/bath
really
Check it out: German police broke into a darkened apartment fearing they would find a dead body, after neighbors complained of a nasty smell seeping out onto the staircase. (Stringer/Reuters) The shutters of the apartment had been closed for more than a week and the mailbox was filled with uncollected mail.
But instead of a corpse, they found a tenant with very smelly feet, asleep in bed next to a pile of foul-smelling laundry, police in the southwestern town of Kaiserslautern said on Sunday."

ICEMAN..mummy...
Scientists have poked, prodded, and x-rayed the 5,000-year-old mummy found in the Alps. They now think he was murdered.
-Mistaken Identity: On September 19, 1991, two hikers came across a corpse that was emerging from a melting glacier in the mountains between Austria and Italy. Four days later a team from Innsbruck, Austria, arrived to retrieve what they thought was the victim of an accident. Unprepared for an excavation, they borrowed poles from passing skiers to try to chip away the ice. After the body finally arrived at the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Innsbruck University, it was assigned a routine ID number: 91/619. Once it was clear that this astonishingly well-preserved mountaineer died 5,300 years ago, he acquired a nickname: Ötzi the Iceman, after the Ötzal Alps where he was found.
-Forensic Science: Missing his hair, fingernails and toenails, and an outer layer of skin, the Iceman is otherwise perfectly preserved. Scientists have studied him exhaustively, inside and out, taking samples of his teeth, bones, tissue, and intestinal contents. They know he was about 46 years old, five feet two (1.6 meters), 110 pounds (50 kilograms), and infested with whipworm. They know he had 57 tattoos at acupuncture points on his back, right knee, calves, and ankles. They know his last meal included venison and bread. And now, after a recent reexamination of a CT scan, they believe they also know how he died.
-Cause of Death: n a CT scan, an arrowhead appears below the left shoulder. Someone shot the Iceman in the back and then pulled out the arrow's shaft, perhaps to remove the incriminating evidence of the shaft's distinctive craftsmanship. The arrow had severed a major artery, and the Iceman, in shock, must have bled to death in minutes.
- Lethal Weapons: The Iceman's quiver, sewn from chamois skin, held 14 arrows, but only two were finished. Both bear three rows of feathers and flintheads similar to the one lodged in his back. One is unusually long and has feathers that a left-hander attached, as revealed by the direction in which the binding was wound. But the Iceman was right-handed. Did he capture this arrow from an enemy? Or was he in such a hurry to leave home that he grabbed whatever arrows were handy, including this odd one, and then began to make more once he found cover in the forest?
- Survival Gear: With a handle of ash wood and a blade of flint, the Iceman's dagger measures five inches (13 centimeters) from top to bottom. Protected by a sheath of bark cord, it would have hung from his leather belt like a modern pocketknife. The Iceman also carried a variety of other tools, from a simple awl of bone to a rare copper-bladed ax, which prepared him to take on any task necessary—making new tools, repairing old ones, hunting and butchering his dinner, making a fire, and even defending himself.
-Life and Death in the Alps: Like modern farmers who live in the verdant foothills of northern Italy, the Iceman and his neighbors kept flocks of animals—probably goats, considering his garments made of goatskin. They also grew primitive wheat and hunted wild creatures such as bear and deer. Some scientists studying the Iceman initially thought he was a simple farmer or shepherd who got caught in a storm and died of exposure. Others believed he was ritually sacrificed high in the snowy peaks that soared above his home.
-Village Intrigue: The discovery of the arrow in the Iceman's back has given rise to a new theory about who he was and how he died. One proposes that the Iceman was an important person in his alpine village, an accomplished craftsman and hunter, and someone with enough wealth and power to own a valuable copper ax. But in his mid-forties he was old by Stone Age standards. After a fight with younger rivals, which left cuts on his right hand and wrist, he grabbed his gear and fled for his life.
-Frantic Escape:Nursing his wounds, the Iceman began to climb a forested path, first passing hop hornbeams and then pines. These trees left pollen on his food, a clue from his intestines that shows he doubled back before heading to the peak, as if trying to evade enemies in pursuit.
-Surprise Attack: Stopping for a breather, the Iceman set down his gear and removed his grass cloak, which was found beside him. The spot was out of the wind, but the surrounding rocks offered many places to hide. His enemies—how many remains a mystery—sneaked up and shot him from behind." ![]()

PS: DID YOU KNOW?
"Naturally preserved or mummified bodies are rare, especially 5,000-year-old ones, so Ötzi the Iceman is quite an extraordinary find. Curious to discover why Ötzi is so well preserved, scientists have examined his body and conducted experiments to find the answer. All of Ötzi's toenails and body hair, and all but one of his fingernails had fallen off his body, as had the epidermis, or outer layer, of his skin. If his body had been preserved purely by being dried out, these items would have remained on his body. So his body had to have been preserved some other way.Scientists know that bodies immersed in water for an extended period of time will lose their fingernails, toenails, and hair. Therefore, at some point, Ötzi must have been in water, not just ice, and this had to have happened before he was dried out and frozen. Another clue pointing to water submersion is the layer of fat under Ötzi's skin—it had turned to adipocere, also known as grave wax, which only forms when a body is in water. Adipocere is almost totally resistant to decay, and so the combination of the fat layer converting to adipocere and the body then drying and freezing, explains why Ötzi's body is so well preserved.

Pamplona Bulls Take on Matadors
"July 11, 2007—
Revelers wave traditional red handkerchiefs during the July 6 opening of the 2007 San Fermín festival in Pamplona, Spain. Held since 1591, the event attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year for nine days of revelry, morning bull runs, and afternoon bullfights.
The number of attendees increased this year because the opening day fell on a weekend. Last year more than 200,000 tourists attended the festival.
Over the years the festival has been infused with music, dancing and bullfights. The festival gained worldwide fame after appearing in Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises."
