cascais-bay
Today is like this
This village Cascais is 10 minutes from myhome, i live bewteen this and the center of Lisbon, by seaside. Is another beautiful place by me.
This once tiny fishing village has grown in the last century to become the elegant beach town that it is today. Visitors are no stranger to Cascais, having attracted various monarchs over the ages, a summer-dwelling artistic community in the thirties and continued to charm people both Portuguese and foreign ever since.
The centre of the Costa do Sol, still retains much of the charm of its fishing past and indeed present. The daily catch is still auctioned in the harbourside square and colourful boats still bob in the harbour, their owners often found mending nets on the quay. Legend even has it that it was a Cascais fisherman, a certain Afonso Sanches , and not Columbus who discovered the New World ten years before the famed date of 1492. Cascais’ fishing history is remembered in the " Museu do Mar " with displays of artefacts, photographs and model boats.
However, it is elegance and commerce with which tradition must share the town and here you find a healthy variety of quality fish restaurants, boutiques and well-heeled hotels, not to mention a veritable fleet of pleasure craft bobbing alongside the fishing boats. In terms of shopping, Cascais has it all from small shops and roadside stalls offering typical embroidery and lace, to the high fashion and beauty boutiques of the centre to the gargantuan shopping centre on the road to" Sintra " , with high street names in clothes, furniture and a cinema complex.
The various beaches here are small and sweet and certainly crowded in the summer. Walk along the sea front towards Lisbon and a walkway dotted with various bars and exercise points takes you all the way to" Estoril", catering for the holidaymaker and the jogger alike.
The space like formation of the rocks at"Boca do Inferno "(‘mouth of hell’), just 3km out of the town, make it an interesting place to visit without the added extra of it being pounded by the Atlantic and becoming a spectacular blowhole at certain points of the tide. Further along the coast is the" Praia do Guincho", a beautiful yet dangerous beach with a host of fantastic seafood restaurants and a perilously strong undercurrent. Experienced surfers and windsurfers take advantage of the maritime conditions here but the standard tourist would do well to heed the red flags denoting dangerous waters.
Also nearby is the well-established complex of" Quinta da Marinha" which boasts 18 holes of sometimes challenging seaside golf and offers horse riding as well.
Have a nice day,

kk

I just tried but the colour is too subtle for my camera. Weird effect. It's just changing now as it gets lighter. Very odd. The trees are blowing about a bit, so may be a storm coming.

Arrived very late RG, thought would come earlier but had to do more stuffs.
Yes, seafood :D and we all love to go Cascais for fun, shoppings, walks, restaurants, etc. because is really nice :)
Yeah cheese is a must :)) i love it too..but Hey they serve great cheeses too LOL
They should pay me isn't it? :)) yes, i should work in tourism, lol maybe i would earn some real money!
Thanks, hope you had a nice day too, mine was tiring but nice :)
What kind of work? lol, i can tell, but mostly now, at the moment, i'm doing my Tese=thesis for my " Mestrado ", so i'm yet researching a lot to write a LOT too, lol, and present it to a juri of 5 or 7 people. And writing around 8/9 subjects related with it with deadlines in December..so, next night and days i'l not sleep much! One of those subjects is a project to Unesco classify a certain village, as World Heritage,i'm writing it bcz a University asked me too..though will not pay me for it, the one who is payed is the Unesco's director who asked it! unfair!..but i need to do it..don't know if will worth something for my own one day, but well my name will be there as i'm the author..and all the work as photographs, researchs also in field, etc.are all my work.
Well, you must be ask'g but what i studied to do this..but yet studing :)) for all my life i think as after 3 years in Laws i made 5 years in Scientific History ( there we study an entire world of subjects/sciences too related with it..and all types of History, even Paleography for ex. i did :)) and lots others, Mentalities and Cultures (Philosophy,Poltics, etc. too..,as also the official History ) plus 2 years being expert in subjects related with the " Mestrado " i did, and now writ'g the "tese"..so i worked already in lots of things, but lately have done works for Universities..just have being always contracts, never is safe, that's the problem in my country! They contract us for some periods, very hard get a safe job, that's why now i'm trying go away, maybe Africa, i don't know really, or an embassy, by now i'm letting it ride concerned on finish this writ'gs, then i'l see.

Wow!! Kiki that ia a lotta work, but will be worth it when you get your Master's.

Here in Scotland the employment is hard, especially for the young people. Pay rates are not so good, but now we have a minimum wage level now.

Wishing tou a restful evening. -:)

Is very hard here, so sometimes i doubt..because is being too much, but i'l end it,by now this, and i'l see after it because here they don't recognize us, unless we have someone who arranges all for us, you know what i mean..sometimes even without the proper studies to the job!..is a shame!,a politics's relative, or a relative/friend from someone in a company, embassy, whatever jobs gets a safe job in an instant while most are fighting all the time under this stuff of contracts and never well payed, or with a security!
Anyway, i'l see, but yes trying go abroad, especially to Africa/Middle East.
Thansk, yes, going to have my bath, supper, and bed :)) soon,

But despite the social/economic problems for portug. people we really have a beautiful country with a great History, and is a joy for me show/share it with all. Maybe because is so peaceful comparing to others and wonderful we all enjoy this, almost forgeting nowadays society troubles.

I'm really really reallllllly getting to love the Ocean ! Whilst my dream is turquoise sea (obliged).

I've always been attracted by Portugal and will be a must, I feel... someday over the rainbow.

I had already heard Portuguese preceded the Italian under Spanish banner...

And now seems more and more, many did it before Chris Col who did a good marketing although not perfect since instead of being Columbia continent, Amerigo Vespucci treached. Normal ?

I'm also learning more and more about your cooking under the skull and it's fascinating !!!!! wow !!! I did get some good spicy smell from your writing... but was much confused...

C u kikipussy !
