"It is important from time to time to slow down, to go away by yourself, and simply BE."
- by Eileen Caddy

- Plus one to laugh before go to the doc.

- photoshop

Better laugh about it indeed, as some doctors nowadays are really dangerous!

cascais-bay
Today is like this
This village Cascais is 10 minutes from myhome, i live bewteen this and the center of Lisbon, by seaside. Is another beautiful place by me.
This once tiny fishing village has grown in the last century to become the elegant beach town that it is today. Visitors are no stranger to Cascais, having attracted various monarchs over the ages, a summer-dwelling artistic community in the thirties and continued to charm people both Portuguese and foreign ever since.
The centre of the Costa do Sol, still retains much of the charm of its fishing past and indeed present. The daily catch is still auctioned in the harbourside square and colourful boats still bob in the harbour, their owners often found mending nets on the quay. Legend even has it that it was a Cascais fisherman, a certain Afonso Sanches , and not Columbus who discovered the New World ten years before the famed date of 1492. Cascais’ fishing history is remembered in the " Museu do Mar " with displays of artefacts, photographs and model boats.
However, it is elegance and commerce with which tradition must share the town and here you find a healthy variety of quality fish restaurants, boutiques and well-heeled hotels, not to mention a veritable fleet of pleasure craft bobbing alongside the fishing boats. In terms of shopping, Cascais has it all from small shops and roadside stalls offering typical embroidery and lace, to the high fashion and beauty boutiques of the centre to the gargantuan shopping centre on the road to" Sintra " , with high street names in clothes, furniture and a cinema complex.
The various beaches here are small and sweet and certainly crowded in the summer. Walk along the sea front towards Lisbon and a walkway dotted with various bars and exercise points takes you all the way to" Estoril", catering for the holidaymaker and the jogger alike.
The space like formation of the rocks at"Boca do Inferno "(‘mouth of hell’), just 3km out of the town, make it an interesting place to visit without the added extra of it being pounded by the Atlantic and becoming a spectacular blowhole at certain points of the tide. Further along the coast is the" Praia do Guincho", a beautiful yet dangerous beach with a host of fantastic seafood restaurants and a perilously strong undercurrent. Experienced surfers and windsurfers take advantage of the maritime conditions here but the standard tourist would do well to heed the red flags denoting dangerous waters.
Also nearby is the well-established complex of" Quinta da Marinha" which boasts 18 holes of sometimes challenging seaside golf and offers horse riding as well.
Have a nice day,

kk

Beautiful, isn't it? YES!

Azenhas-do-Mar

I love this place, Azenhas do Mar, is about 40 minutes from my home, driving. Has natural swimming-pools, and this small village is all built on those rocks by the ocean.
Azenhas do Mar is perched on the cliffs near Cabo da Roca, the western most point of continental Europe.
The name literally means "water mills by the sea"
PS: if you click twice on the image, as on the others, it enlarges and you can see better this lovely village.

Have a nice evening,

Monday's gone, and my canary is alive!

by kiki2u @ 2006-11-28 - 08:44:22

Garfield

Yet looking for my coffee, must go out soon.
My canary, a yellow one is alive. Yesterday, his cage falled on the floor, with violence, suddenly, and for moments i thought he was dead. But after wet his tiny head he recovered, was alive and yesssssss recovering his balance. Though, with marks around his eyes, and not opening his left eye, i decided to put around it an ointment, and now i went to check and:
- i'm so glad, because his left eye is open, he's seeing.
A reason to smile, all this let me sick, i didn't managed eat, as i can't watch them suffer. He's not ok yet, but is recovering and trying sing again right now :)
Have a nice day,

by kiki2u @ 2006-11-27 - 16:17:05

Beautiful garden, a roman one, is located in the North, Ponte de Lima,;but in Cunnimbriga (the place really has this latin name as ages ago, is near Coimbra city ) designers and archaelogists recovered a roman place with various gardens, some have water to please people.

Not True, Jap.story

by kiki2u @ 2006-11-27 - 07:44:00

Mr. Kitchom loved to listen to stories, but at the end of the tale he would invariably exclaim, "That can't be true!"
One day he was standing at the gate of his house when he saw the village schoolmaster going by. He called out to him and begged him to tell him a story.
"On one condition," said the teacher. "When I finish, you should not say 'That can't be true.' If you say that, I'll be entitled to a sack of grain from your house."
"Agreed," said Mr. Kitchom.
"I'll tell you the story of a great lord who lived in China a long time ago," said the teacher. "One day this aristocrat got into his palanquin to go to the governor's palace. On the way he heard a bird crying 'preeep.... preeeeep.' When he peered out the bird soiled his robe with its droppings.
"The lord sent his servant back for a new robe and when he had brought it he took off the soiled robe, threw it away and put on the new one. Then they resumed the journey. A little later the bird called out again and when the lord peered out it soiled his sword with its droppings. The nobleman sent his servant back for a new sword and when he had brought it, gave the soiled one to the servant and kept the new one.
"The lord made up his mind not to look out if the bird cried out again, but when it did he could not resist looking out and this time the bird dropped its load directly on his head.
"The lord sent his servant to bring him a new head and when he had brought it, cut off his own with his sword......"
"Oh, but that can't be true!" blurted Mr. Kitchom.
"No, it can't," agreed the teacher, triumphantly, "but you've uttered the prohibited phrase and you agreed to forfeit a sack of rice as penalty!"
"Did I?" said Mr. Kitchom, slyly.
"That can't be true."
